CURRENT BLOCKS OF THE MONTH
PROJECT
2008-2009 - "The
Strippers"
This year's project
is about stretching your creativity.
It will be a strippie quilt with guidelines presented for seven months using
different techniques.
Instructions will be for 7" finished blocks.
You can sew your blocks together each month to make a strip, but please do not
sew the strips
together until you have made all the strips.
Think about setting the strips and letting the ideas simmer---vertical,
horizontal, diagonal, a combo
of all, or what other ideas will you have?
Selecting fabrics: Please use a combination that is "unexpected" or
unusual to you. You can do it
with fabric prints -- for example, reproduction prints with contemporary prints;
stripes with florals; or
anything that is unusual to you eye. Another possibility is unexpected color
combinations -- for example,
brown with purple, red/orange/pink, or ????????
As you pull fabrics off your shelves and work with them, be willing to be
surprised!
